The FSA has announced the appointment of a new senior advisor, John Sutherland, who will advise on the building society sector. He brings with him more than three decades of experience in retail banking which includes a recent stint as CEO of the Stroud and Swindon Building Society. Sutherland was an Executive Director of Sales and Marketing at Nationwide after beginning his career at Lloyd’s. Prior to joining the FSA, Sutherland served as a special advisor to the Bank of England’s special Resolution Unit.
FSA CEO Hector Sants said that Sutherland’s appointment will be important in the retail banking sector. He added that, “… senior advisors are a core part of the FSA’s delivery of intensive supervision. The team provides experience on regulatory, market and consumer matters.”
